Cleaning Threaded Rod

After assembling my MakerBot I found that I had not properly cleaned the Threaded Rods resulting in missed steps when the Z-stage moved.

I found that placing the threaded rod in a hand drill as pictured I was able to quickly and thoroughly clean the threaded rods.

Place one end of the rod into a hand drill using some cloth to protect the threads.

Use another piece of cloth to clean the rods and the drill spins the threaded rod.

Run the Drill forward and reverse using different parts of the cloth for each run.

Reverse the end of the threaded rod held in the drill and repeat.

I found that an old t-shirt. (commonly used as rags in my house) worked well.
