for now thingiverse is not open source, as we'd like to keep it a universe rather than a multi-verse. however, if it was for an internal project that might be different. hit me up off-forum and we can chat about what you want to do and if we can find something that works.

Is the code open source? What language is it written in? I'd love to fork/branch a copy for this purpose and I'd be happy to pass improvements back to the original.
