I need help! I put new ACME threaded Z rods in Makerbot and Delrin nuts, but they have a different pitch. Can anybody tell me how to compensate for that and where the settings would be?
I would advise posting in the MakerBot Operators Google Group for assistance. This page is intended for discussions about the wiki page that it is attached to so you may not get much of a response here.
I'm trying to have the makerbot warm up automatically when i start replicatorg. I want it to automatically warm up and stay warm. Can anyone help me with this?
You could certainly do this with a custom repg, if you know how to program, but it seems unlikely to ever be a standard feature as it'd be unsafe for too many users. Your print head is probably set to something around 220 degC (438 degF) — not something you just want to turn on and leave on accidentally, possibly unattended, and not as a side effect of launching an application.
You can always use the control panel to pre-heat, and you can edit your end.gcode to change setting the temperature to 0 to your desired setting, so it will stay warm once warmed up.
A firmware change to set the temperature at power up would oddly be safer — more akin to turning on a stove, so a reasonable expectation of its behavior is possible. You'd still need to edit end.gcode to keep that from lowering it to 0 when a print is finished. If you do it in the firmware you might want to consider a max idle timer: after 30 minutes (or whatever seems reasonable to you) of no commands being sent, lower the temp back to 0.
It seems the power resistors on the mk5 have a finite life, so if you keep them hot for long periods without printing you'll be reducing their useful life.
I have upgraded to a MK6+ extruder and new head and i can ot get it to run at 220 DegC. I t ran at low tempurstures fine but after about 10 minets it only got to 215 216 and after a little time actually went down in tempersture. I could not find any PID setting for the MK6+ setup. More concernign was the down ward trend after 10 minites of usage. I have a dedicated power wire from my AT supply to the extruder controller. Does any one have any sugestings or experance for me. FYI this is my first go at making my botr go so i am very green.
