Anyone have their MakerBot done? I'm hoping to get some plastic melting in the next 1.5 weeks !
Nice. Mine is almost ready, too (http://www.flickr.com/photos/23124942@N03/sets/72157617252616993/). But there seem to be some plastruder parts missing (http://wiki.makerbot.com/forum/t-153155/plastruder-mk3-kit:missing-parts#post-468004). And I didn't test the hardware yet.

Mine is almost done. I still need to build the plastruder and mount the electronics… then i'm done.
I'm just waiting on some SMT resistors for the motherboard… I received 1k ones instead of 1.8k. oh and i'll replace the capacitors on the drivers with the proper ones .. I ordered them at teh same time.. for 60 cents i might as well :)
I hope to have it running on wed or thursday… assuming the electronics work first go (they probly wont).
Also i've been messing with google sketchup; it's pretty awesome for a novice. I'm working on a thing i think everyone will like… I'll post it on thingiverse once i can print and test it myself.
I "finished" my makerbot this weekend. And then I promptly broke it.
Everything seemed to be working, but when I tried to print it wasn't extruding fast enough and the small amount of plastic that did extrude didn't stick to the platform. So I had the brilliant idea of increasing the temp. Bad idea.
To make a long story short, I now have a clogged extruder barrel and an extruder board that seems to short/reset when there is stress on the extruder motor. The extruder barrel is currently soaking in acetone and I will fiddle with it tonight but I have a feeling I will be replacing part or all of the extruder and possibly the board as well.
This kit is still the most fun ever.

They just emailed me, ITS SHIPPING ON MONDAY!!!! IM SOOO EXCITED/AFRAID! is it relatively easy to solder the surface mount components?
I soldered mine the conventional way… I dident find it to be a problem. Justa takes some time really.
Team Sirius Cybernetics got our Cupcake (Marvin) fully operational today. We had a couple of close calls with success over the past week.
Our final two issues were:
- occasional "lost steps" in the X axis controller, which turned out to be caused by the fact that we were overdriving the stepper motor. The driver would overheat and switch off to cool down for short periods of time. Resolved by: (1) adjusting down the drive strength of the controller, and (2) lubricating the rods with dry silicone lubricant.
- fine-tuning the plastruder. We had an issue with the plastic filament riding to the side of the idler wheel and jamming against the plastruder case. We ended up having to disassemble the plastruder and replace the idler wheel with a double-wide wheel, now the plastruder extrudes like an incontinent champ!
We fabricated our first "big" object, a shotglass with is actually a bit more of a sieve for scotch (hmm, there's probably a skeinforge setting for that). But everything seems happy now!
