I have added pics onto the makerbot flickr pool, - my name is Roboteernat as it is everywehere, facebook, twitter etc. Have a look and let me know :)

Also i wanted to ask, as there is a list of bought makerbots - with associated numbering, can those who make their own register for a series of numbers - ie HG 001 (as in the first home grown makerbot) I know there are some out there already so maybe we could set this up?! so you guys and gals can keep track of the makerbots numbers??

I guess you didnt quite understand, i know there is a linage for bought numbered makerbots - but can we add our maker bots which are home made - ie NOT BOUGHT THROUGH THE MAKERBOT STORE? self cut using our own resources

If so, how??

if not, can we start giving numbers to us?

It is a WIKI. So you could add it. If they dont like it, they could just delete it.

Since the have the RepRap as 'God Father', maybe create a new sub-heading called something like 'Scratch Built'.

If they want, they can always spin it off to it's own dedicated page.

sorry wasnt getting shirty - was in hurry coz the enamel paint i painted my maker bot wasnt drying and i needed to go out so was a quick reply -sorry if i offended :)

nat (with black fingernails and yellow hands after painted said makerbot :P)

Hi Nat
i'm also doing a diy build in the UK, i think we're the only two so far!!!
I Think getting the open belt is a good idea, the correct ones have been out of stock for a month now…. getting bored of waiting….. might try and get it changed over although sdp-si seem to have a useless customer service dept.
I always find it amazing how whenever i order from the US it is a nightmare, then you have to wait two weeks for delivery, only to get stung with tax bill. But from China i have never paid tax and normally get the packages in three days! anyway rant over!

My makerbot is a bit different as it is all acrylic, has internal electrics and some more metric parts than the OEM, but i've attached a google spreadsheet of the parts i've used and all a link to my flickr page, so hopefully they might help in some way

Hi Chris, yeah i saw your acrylic one, looks very nice! i think you should actually have number one as you started it first - will swap us around :)

Yeah i saw that spd-si were out, so i ordered 3 metres of open belt, only prob i see it how to attach it tog on the z axis as requires to have continuous motion :S im sure i can find a way :)

yeah i will be doing a spreadsheet of mine, and flicker links - 'roboteernat' will upload some pics of the painted bot shortly, just off to a bbq with old house mate at mo :D

yeah that's what i had wondered with the continuous belt, i wonder if you could 'weld' it together so there isn't a join. Also as there is adjustment in the pulley system it won't have to be exactly the same length as the stock belt.
Have you ordered all the bits you need? i still need some extruder parts, we could do a combined order on them to save some shipping, there is a guy who sells the parts on the main reprap forum as makerbot have been out of stock for 2 months. I think they hold onto some parts so that they alway have enough for the full kits.

ahhhh, yeah i placed my order last week :( i think i oprdered a few spare bits? not sure… but i was thinking oif using some high strength glue th bond it tog then add a piece on the back to secure it tog.

Will post details on it.

I was thinking of the longer belt, but i decieded just to get the open belt.

Hopefully am expecting the parcell any day now :D
