Printing slabs on replicator

Hi all,
I've got my Replicator working very well for most prints (using 225 abs temp and 125 HBP temp), but every time I try and print a slab type print (e.g, Bre's mooncrater or anything else which is basically a low-lying box) it shears off, usually just as I'm putting a solid layer on the first level of infill. It's not a matter of the head catching deeply on a lip, it just seems like the solid threads going over long distances don't melt on well, leaving the whole layer stringy and prone to sliding off with even the simplest touch of the stepstruder head.
Any suggestions welcome.
