Ubuntu- ReplicatorG-0037 cant find COM ports

I'm on Ubuntu 12.04LTS, ReplicatorG-0037 successfully installed but it will not find any COM ports for my MBI Replicator using USB. I have tried every port and re-scanned but it finds nothing. Also ive made sure Replicator Dual is selected as the machine.

Well, that would indicate you missed the step of making sure the driver loaded and detected and initialized the Arduino Mega and made it a virtual com port. In your defense, they still mention FTDI but the newer Arduino Mega 2560s use a different driver.

Access to serial port
Ensure your user have access
to the serial port. Check rights on the file /dev/ttyUSBX (if you are using a FTDI usb-serial adapter, where X is the number of the corresponding serial port)

$ ls -la /dev/ttyUSB0

Ok I did all that, only ttyUSB0 shows up as ttyACM0, heres the output of my terminal:

Am I supposed to edit the uucp line in /etc/group?
right now it reads:

uucp:x:10

Edit: Ok, I came across this: Install the Arduino IDE in Ubuntu 12.04 from blog.markloiseau.com (sorry cant post links) instructions for Troubleshooting USB and the grayed out Serial Port. And it worked!

sudo usermod -a -G dialout mark
sudo chmod a+rw /dev/ttyACM0

Nevermind, I got a little excited. If I unplug or turn off the machine, it once again cant find the port.

The serial port named '/dev/tty/ACM0' could not be found

untill I enter sudo chmod a+rw /dev/ttyACM0 in terminal again.

Sorry I don't have more (any) experience with Rep-G on Ubuntu. Hopefully, you figure out a more permanent solution. At least this hopefully gets you up and running.
