Stepstruder® MK7

The MakerBot Stepstruder MK7 is our first dedicated 1.75 mm filament extruder. This extruder was designed from scratch, and contains a number of custom manufactured parts. We’ve learned a lot over our past extruder designs, and incorporated a lot of those lessons here: that’s why it’s smaller, lighter, and faster to build. And since it’s designed from the ground up for 1.75 mm filament, it’s light-years ahead of past designs in small-filament reliability.

Stepstruder® MK6

Designed for reliability, low maintenance, and ease of use, the MK6 Stepstruder revolutionizes plastrusion once again with stepper driven extrusion. It combines the reliability of the MK5 with a high torque stepper motor to provide precision control of your extrusion.

Plastruder MK5

The Plastruder MK5 is a new plastruder based on the Paxtruder 0.4 (Thingiverse). Potential benefits include:

  • Fast filament changes
  • No idler-wheel-related problems
  • Fewer parts
  • Improved steel heater core
  • Mid-print filament adjustments
  • NEMA17 compatibility

Plastruder MK4

New and improved Plastruder design for plastic based 3D printing needs. This extruder is much more reliable and has a few crucial design fixes. It is a pinch-wheel style extruder design. More information available here. Batch 6 and later shipped with a MK4.

Plastruder MK3

The first Plastruder design we were happy enough with to release as a product. This is a pinch-wheel based Plastruder that was developed as part of the RepRap project and adapted for our specific needs and purposes. More information available here Batches 1-5 shipped with a MK3.

Printed Extruder

The printed extruder (printruder) is a printable alternative to the MK3/MK4 Plastruder that can be printed on any MakerBot or similar printer. It replaces all of the acrylic parts of the MK3/MK4 Plastruder and makes use of the same mechanical parts and hot end. It is an ideal spare part to have should you encounter problems with the MK3/MK4 Plastruder and will get your MakerBot up and running again. More information available here

Printruder II

This is the next generation of the first version above. Files are available at thingiverse.

Advantages include:

  • Reduced part number (only 2 printed parts!)
  • Easier filament loading & undloading
  • Easier adjustment of pinch pressure (similar to the paxtruder)
  • Open access to pinchwheel

MakerBot Unicorn Pen Plotter

Take your graphics from the computer to the real world with this awesome drawing implement. On top of being a great platform for art and experimentation, the Unicorn Pen Plotter expands the capabilities of your 3D MakerBot printer into the realm of 2D, and even opens the door to the possibility of producing your own custom printed circuit boards.

Frostruder MK2

The Frostruder MK2 is a radically different approach to frosting extrusion. Instead of using a motorized plunger approach such as with the Frostruder MK1 and Fab@Home paste extruders, we've switched to air power.
